Wrinkle Treatments

Wrinkle Treatment injections, also referred to as wrinkle relaxers, are a non-surgical treatment designed to temporarily reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Wrinkle injections are performed following a detailed consultation with Dr Starr.

What are Wrinkle Treatment Injections?

These injections work by relaxing targeted facial muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles caused by repetitive expressions such as frowning, smiling, or squinting. Over time, these dynamic lines may become static, meaning they remain visible even when the face is at rest.

As part of the natural ageing process, collagen and elastin production declines, leading to reduced skin elasticity and the development of deeper lines. Wrinkle injections aim to smooth these lines, helping to refresh and rejuvenate the appearance. This treatment can also assist in preventing wrinkles from deepening further, making it a popular option for both corrective and preventative care.

What Can Anti-Wrinkle Injections Help With?

Patients may wish to discuss using wrinkle injections to address concerns such as:

  • Reducing the appearance of frown lines and crow’s feet
  • Relaxing the muscles responsible for excessive teeth grinding (bruxism)
  • Temporarily reducing the size of the masseter muscle for a slimmer jawline appearance
  • Minimising excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)
  • Assisting in the management of chronic migraines (where medically appropriate)

What to Expect from Treatment

Anti-wrinkle injections are a non-invasive treatment performed in clinic by Dr Starr following a consultation, typically taking around 20 minutes. The treatment involves a series of small injections in targeted areas.

Results are not immediate—patients may begin to notice an effect within three to four days, with full results typically developing within seven to fourteen days. The longevity of results varies between individuals but generally lasts three to four months, depending on the area treated, muscle strength, and individual metabolism. Results are not permanent – effective treatment generally requires repeat anti-wrinkle injections every three to six months.

Important Considerations

  • All medical treatments, including injectables, require a consultation with a qualified medical professional
  • Anti-wrinkle injections may not be suitable for everyone. Individual suitability will be assessed based on medical history and treatment goals
  • As per AHPRA guidelines, no specific product names or brands can be mentioned in advertising materials

If you are considering anti-wrinkle injections, a consultation is required to assess your concerns and discuss a tailored approach to treatment.
